EMCON AWARDED UNITED STATES PATENT FOR MULTI-COMPUTER SWITCH OTTAWA, ONTARIO-AUGUST 14, 2003-The United States Patent and Trademark Office has issued a patent to EMCON Emanation Control Limited for its multi-computer access secure switching system technology. The patent, #6,578,089, issued June 10, 2003 to EMCON inventors John Simpson, Michael Wong and Frank Blasioli, provides a solution to the problem of having separate computers to communicate with both secure and unsecured networks on the same desktop. “The objective of the invention was to provide a switch incorporating an enhanced degree of signal isolation that is suitable for connecting a single monitor, keyboard and mouse to multiple computers that are processing different classification levels of information”, said John Simpson, VP Operations and Team Leader for EMCON. “Besides protecting our intellectual property, the granting of this patent validates our commitment to technological leadership in the emission security (EMSEC) field”, said Peter Doig, President and CEO of EMCON. EMCON’s KVM switch, DeskSaver, is available in two-port and four-port models. DeskSaver is ideal for data-sensitive installations as it ensures classified information will not inadvertently be routed to a CPU processing unclassified material. EMCON also offers a TEMPEST-compliant KVM switch. About EMCON
